1. The Coastal Settlement

The Coastal Settlement is a relatively chill hangout spot for the brunch-goers and those who would want to bring their furball along. Dress down and join in the party of others decked in the comest outt. A combination of t-shirt, shorts, and slippers can never go wrong. While you’re here, choose between dining indoors or outdoors as each would give you a different experience. The interior of the restaurant is lled with all things antique such as typewriters and Belgian telephones. When you’re outdoors, it’s nature and the lush greenery that surrounds you. The Coastal Settlement is far from the city and in the ulu areas but denitely worth the visit. We would recommend you to go by private car if you’re heading here.

Boufe is a combination of Boutique and Cafe which is exactly what this eatery is all about. Expect to dig into quality food and also shop for fashion apparels all in the same place. Boufe boasts a lush greenery in the alfresco area amidst the ulu yet serene location. The unique colonial facade of the building makes for a great Instagram OOTD spot too. Besides being Instaworthy, Boufe also serves up the best salted egg craysh that would denitely make you go craaaaay! Alternatively, you can grab something light like their cakes or french toast.

3. Chuckwagon BBQ & Grill

Hidden in the ulu areas of Portsdown Road, Chuckwagon BBQ & Grill is at least a 15 minutes walk from the nearest MRT. Forget about the distance if you’re craving for some good old western bbq and grill. This wild west concept restaurant serves up American-sized portions which are double the portion of our Asian meals. If you’re a big eater and love steak, get their massive Australian T-Bone that weighs at least 500g. For the light eaters, they serve up the usual bar snacks such as Onion Rings and Cheesy Fries. Chuckwagon is a good spot to unwind with the best company on a late Saturday night!

4. ENAQ Restaurant

If you’re a fan of prata, this one’s for you. ENAQ restaurant probably sells one of the best pratas in Singapore. Unlike the usual oily pratas, ENAQ’s have their prata thick and crispy with very little oil. Each prata is served with a side of the usual curry and Ikan Bilis belacan which is the ultimate combination! The pratas are going at affordable hawker prices that makes it a plus point. The only issue is, if you’re already salivating, you got to make your way to the West for this!

5. New Ubin Seafood

New Ubin Seafood that originated from Pulau Ubin is now found in the ulu areas of Sin Ming. This Singaporean Zi Char restaurant specialises in whipping up Zi Char dishes with a unique twist and has a more global inuence. Dining at the New Ubin Seafood makes you feel like you’re at the origins of Pulau Ubin with the unadorned furniture and aluminium sheeted ceilings. Unlike most Zi Char restaurants, New Ubin Seafood is probably the only one to serve US Angus Rib-Eye to its customers. Also, don’t miss out on their Soft Boiled Egg Special which requires an hour pre-order.

Back in 1953, Colbar also known as Colonial Bar was used as a British army canteen. Today, you can still dine at Colbar with a glimpse of the past. Many would come here to experience the nostalgia they once had eating in places like Colbar. Besides reminiscing, Colbar is also a good place to educate the younger generation of how life was lived in the past.

8. Outram Park Ya Hua Rou Gu Cha

Outram Park Ya Hua is famed for its delicious Bak Kut Teh. You can choose between lean or fatty meat upon ordering Spare Ribs or the Pork Ribs soup which is perfect on rainy days. The pork meat served here is tender most times and that’s what makes customers come back for more. To get this, you have to travel all the way to PSA Tanjong Pagar Complex, which is rather inconvenient but has the most seats anyway.
